Milner, 36, leaves younger Liverpool teammates miles behind in pre-season drill

Liverpool veteran James Milner destroyed his teammates again during a pre-season running drill.

The 36-year-old midfielder and the rest of the squad have been getting back to full fitness with a training camp in Austria ahead of their friendly against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday.

In a clip shared to the club’s official social media accounts, Milner was seen outlasting the likes of Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson and youngsters like Harvey Elliott in a running challenge around a track. And there was instant fanfare to his remarkable fitness levels as fans were left stunned at seeing him leave Reds teammates in his dust.

The midfield engine has made a habit of coming out on top during pre-season since his arrival back in 2015. He is said to have beaten everyone else each year without fail in pre-season lactate tests.

Milner recently signed a new one-year contract which will keep him at Anfield until 2023. He will be hoping for another league title to add to his three in what could be his final season playing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
