Lionel Messi has left Liverpool fans dreaming after hinting Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe could end up in England.
The 22-year-old forward was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer before the Spanish giants reportedly had two bids rejected by PSG, including one of £137million.
But the lightning-paced star’s contract runs out next summer with the Frenchman yet to agree a new deal, adding to speculation that his future lies elsewhere.
And now teammate Messi, who joined PSG in the summer on a free transfer, has provided a transfer hint which may encourage other clubs in their pursuit of the generational talent.
When quizzed on Mbappe’s future by Marca, Messi conceded that he did not know, and that England could be a destination.
He said: "The truth is I do not know.
"Only he knows what he has in his head and what he is going to do.
"I can only say that I am happy that he has stayed here this year.
"He is a very important player for us and to fight for the objectives we have. He is fully focused on our goals.
"And then he will decide what he will do when the season is over. The truth is that I don't know what will happen.

"But he speaks very well in everything: Spanish, English, obviously French."
Mbappe’s ability to speak English is nothing new, though the Argentine may have given a clue towards interest from Premier League clubs.
Liverpool were linked with Mbappe following their title winning 2019/20 season, before Mbappe decided to remain in France.
The Parisian-born winger has already netted a highly impressive 139 goals for PSG since joining the club in 2017.
His stock continues to rise as one of the greatest players in world football, which will leave Liverpool fans in disbelief at the thought of him playing at Anfield.
