Manchester United missed out on the chance to sign Bayern Munich starlet Alphonso Davies in a bargain deal back in 2018.
United dithered over whether to pursue a deal for the Canadian youngster, who was playing for Vancouver Whitecaps at the time, with the youngster eventually signing for the German giants.
The left-back has excelled for the Bundesliga leaders and has produced some outstanding performances this season, particularly in their Champions League against Chelsea earlier this month.

Bayern secured the signing of Davies for just £10million and the 19-year-old is now one of the most highly regarded youngsters in world football.
United were considering a move for Davies when Jose Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford but a deal didn’t materialise.
Nick Huoseh, who coached Davies, told Sky Sports: ‘When Jose Mourinho was there, he really wanted him but it never happened.
‘They waited and waited, and at the end I don’t think they had the same vision and belief as Munich.
‘I met with one or two other clubs, but speaking with the Bayern guys and seeing their plan I thought it was the best place for Alphonso.’
United dithered over a deal for Davies and he joined Bayern, for whom he has impressed
‘Honestly, I was being offered things that guys might jump on but Bayern had a small squad, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben were retiring, and it was just a good fit.’
Davies, a Canada international, is capable of playing as a winger, but he is now mainly deployed at left-back, where he pushes forward and causes havoc to opposition defences.
So far Davies has made 35 senior appearances for Bayern and he recently signed a new long-term contract that is set to run until the summer of 2025.
United will be ruing not signing Davies, with the defender having much potential.
