Man Utd urged to ‘forget about’ Jadon Sancho in favour of £100m Harry Kane move

Paul Merson has advised Manchester United to move on from their pursuit of Dortmund's Jadon Sancho and instead target Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Sancho is known to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's No.1 target this summer, but despite reportedly agreeing personal terms with the player the two clubs are struggling to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

It remains to be seen if anything is resolved over the coming weeks, but the Red Devils have also been linked with a big-money move for England captain Kane.

And writing in his column for Star Sport, Merson stated his belief that they should now prioritise the Spurs man over Sancho.

Would Harry Kane be a better signing than Jadon Sancho? Have your say below

" Manchester United should forget Jadon Sancho and sign Harry Kane instead – it would make them title contenders," Merson said.

"With Sancho, it’s a transfer saga that’s dragging on now, and I keep on weighing it up thinking: ‘Is this what United really need?’

"They’ve got Mason Greenwood, who’s going to be a star. Marcus Rashford is only going to get better and better.

"But while Anthony Martial lets nobody down, I think they need an out and out centre forward. With Sancho, where is everyone going to play? Do they leave Greenwood out?

"I just think with £100m, why don’t you go and get Kane from Tottenham? Over 38 games, Harry Kane will score more goals for you than Sancho. I think they have a chance of winning the Premier League if he goes there.

"Would he go? You’d have to ask serious questions of him if he didn’t! Winning trophies is the name of the game and he has a much better chance of doing that at United than Spurs."

Kane was in great form towards the end of the season, scoring five goals in his last three games in the Premier League, and it remains to be seen if they turn out to be his last for Spurs amid United's reported interest.
