Man Utd ‘sound out Fernandes’ agent’ over £52m transfer move

Manchester United have sounded out Bruno Fernandes' agent ahead of the transfer window.

The summer could be a busy period for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has several targets on his mind at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian coach wants to bring in a striker and a centre-back, but a midfielder and a winger, as well as full-backs, are being linked too.

Erling Haaland and Harry Kane have been linked, as well as Jadon Sancho, Declan Rice, Pau Torres and Jules Kounde – but another name is also on Solskjaer's wish list.

According to The Sun, Sporting Lisbon star Nuno Mendes is being tipped to sign for the Red Devils ahead of the summer window.

The 18-year-old has been a pivotal member of the first-team this year and has led his club to a first Primeira Liga title in 19 years.

Mendes has been touted to become a star with clubs around the world, though The Sun further report that Manchester City are not interested despite rumours they were.

The teenager has the same agent as Fernandes, who also played for Sporting before signing for United in January 2019.

The Portugal international has gone on to become one of the most integral players in the Premier League and could be awarded the PFA Player of the Year award this season.

Miguel Pinho represents the 26-year-old, as well as Mendes, and United have got back into contact with him over the left-back.

A bid of £52m has been mooted to land the wonderkid, though if a deal is pulled off it remains to be seen what that would mean for Luke Shaw.

The former Southampton ace has had his best season for the Red Devils and looks set to go to the Euros this summer with England.
