Manchester United reportedly refused to include Mason Greenwood as part of a swap deal for Jadon Sancho during lockdown talks with Borussia Dortmund. The 18-year-old has made huge strides under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season in what has been his breakthrough campaign, netting 18 goals in all competitions.
Since the return of the Premier League, Greenwood has been spearheading Manchester United’s hopes of a top-four finish alongside Bruno Fernandes while Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have also been in the goals.
Greenwood signed a new long-term contract in 2019 and his form could see him land another extension with improved terms.
The teenager’s hot-streak has seen some supporters question whether a mega-money swoop for Jadon Sancho is essential this summer, particularly with Greenwood playing so well from the right side of attack.
Borussia Dortmund have held talks with United over a deal but there has yet to be any kind of breakthrough in negotiations.

Sancho wants to return to England to set the record straight following his departure from Manchester City in 2017 and personal terms with United are not expected to be a problem.
It means should the two clubs reach an agreement over a fee or structure of the deal, it could be all systems go for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to close the gap on Liverpool and neighbours City at the top of the Premier League.
According to ESPN back in April, Borussia Dortmund were keen on taking Greenwood as part of the deal.
Reportedly, Dortmund soon realised that there was little chance they would sign Greenwood, who is held in very high regard by Old Trafford officials.

By this point it was crystal clear that he would be off the table in future talks over Sancho.
United first made contact over Sancho last year when they held a meeting with Dortmund, who shut down the prospect of him leaving the club after his first full season in the side.
The Bundesliga giants are not the only European club to have picked up on Greenwood’s talents.
According to journalist Andy Mitten, Juventus tried to prise him away from United before he committed his long-term future.
“I know that there has been offers for him. Go back a year and Juventus were prepared to offer his family life-changing amounts of money,” Mitten said on Talk of the Devils podcast.
“Manchester United deserve credit for the way they got him to sign a new contract.
“They basically said to him, ‘you will get chances here. There’s a clear pathway here into this first team but you have to be patient’.”
“He stayed at the club. Paul Pogba didn’t stay at the club in 2012, the circumstances were slightly different then.
“But credit to United for keeping him and for his development.
“It’s great that you’ve now got him and Marcus Rashford having had this drought of strikers, who’ve both come through the youth system.”
