Manchester United have seen a £67million bid for Jadon Sancho rejected by Borussia Dortmund, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co have identified Sancho as their top transfer target again this summer after failing to prise him away from Dortmund last year.

But according to BBC Sport, United have failed with their opening bid for the England winger, which fell short of Dortmund's £78million valuation.

The German club are also understood to be looking for a £4.25million bonus payment on top of that transfer fee.

Nevertheless, as well as not meeting their overall asking price United reportedly wanted to pay the transfer fee over five years.

Dortmund, on the other hand, were only willing to extend it to four.

The Red Devils will be desperate to avoid a repeat of last summer's Sancho failure, which saw them struggle to meet Dortmund's £108million demand.

That figure has dropped significantly over the past 12 months as the 21-year-old now only has two years remaining on his current contract, but United are still trying to bring it down.

It is believed Dortmund have a 'gentleman's agreement' with Sancho to allow him to depart the club if someone meets their valuation before a certain point this summer.
