Manchester United fans are pleading for Ander Herrera’s return with reports claiming the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is for sale.
PSG this week unexpectedly signed Lionel Messi who will cost them a whopping £1million a week in wages despite having the tag of a ‘free’ transfer.
Now the Guardian reports the French giants have listed several players that are available for sale in an effort to trim their huge wage bill after signing the Argentine.
It is claimed that Herrera, along with Mauro Icardi and Idrissa Gueye have been transfer listed, sparking rumours surrounding a return to Old Trafford for the 31-year-old.
Herrera spent five seasons at United where he won the FA Cup, Europa League and EFL Cup, before joining PSG in 2019.
And with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking for a central-midfielder to join United this summer, a move back certainly makes sense in the eyes of some fans on social media.
One supporter tweeted: “An Ander Herrera return would be nothing short of incredible.
“Knows the league, knows the club, a fan favourite and he’s a tenacious defensive midfielder that would seemingly slot in between Varane and Maguire seamlessly. Bring him back!”
Do you think Man United should re-sign Herrera from PSG? Let us know in the comments section.
Another commented: “One of the most underrated and hardworking players Manchester United have seen in recent times.
“Never should have left.”
The Red Devils have been linked with more glamourous names like Eduardo Camavinga and Saul Niguez this transfer window, but there is no doubting Herrera’s passion and experience in midfield.
The 31-year-old may prove to be too old for Solskjaer’s taste, though the Spaniard could prove to be an astute signing for the short-term with Paul Pogba potentially leaving on a free transfer next summer.
