Man Utd coaches ‘irritated’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer training ground decision

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly 'irritating' members of his Manchester United coaching staff by delegating the majority of his responsibilities elsewhere.

Solskjaer faces a battle to keep his job as United boss following Sunday's 5-0 mauling against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Reports in Italy suggest Red Devils chiefs are already eyeing Antonio Conte as a potential replacement, making contact with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss twice this week.

And if they learn of concerns over Solskjaer's laid-back approach on the training ground, club officials may be tempted to pull the trigger and bring Conte in sooner rather than later.

According to the Irish Independent, certain United coaches are becoming frustrated by the number of duties Solskjaer is delegating to other members of his staff.

The Norwegian reportedly prefers to take more of a backseat and observe from the sidelines, tasking first-team coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna with delivering the main tactical briefings.

Carrick, 40, and McKenna, 35, are typically on hand to devise and conduct training sessions at Carrington, while 29-year-old Eric Ramsay is in charge of set-pieces.

All three men are very early into their careers as coaches, meaning Solskjaer is essentially entrusting an inexperienced trio with the majority of United's preparations on the training ground while adopting a more hands-off approach himself.

This is said to have irritated certain members of the coaching staff, who believe they are being left to face the accusation of overseeing one of the most under-coached and poorly-drilled sides in the Premier League this season.

United are without a win in their last four Premier League matches and have only claimed four wins out of nine in the 2021/22 campaign, conceding an alarming 15 goals already.

Sunday's capitulation at home to Liverpool was almost definitely the nadir of Solskjaer's reign thus far, plunging his future as Red Devils boss into serious doubt.

Conte is understood to be waiting in the wings to replace him if the Old Trafford hierarchy choose to part company with him, which would see him break his usual rule of not taking charge of a team mid-season.
