Lyon chief Juninho has delivered a blow to any Arsenal fans hoping to see Houssem Aouar in North London this season. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners after a string of fine displays for the Ligue 1 outfit.
Last season the 22-year-old registered nine goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances as Lyon reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. Along with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, Arsenal are keen to make Aouar one of their last pieces of transfer business this summer.
Mikel Arteta has already overseen the signings of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes and has managed to persuade Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to commit his future to the club.

Aouar and Partey’s arrivals would bring some much needed depth across the midfield and could provide Arsenal with a serious platform from which to compete on.
But any chance of the former arriving this summer has been plunged into doubt by Lyon’s sporting director.
“For now, there is nothing for these players,” Juninho told Telefoot Chaine.
“We have not received anything for Houssem, we have not received anything for Memphis.”
Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay is another Lyon star who could depart after being linked with Barcelona. Former Netherlands international manager Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the forward having worked with him before.
Juninho only commented last week of his relationship with Arsenal chief Edu and confirmed that Aouar is 100 per cent on Arsenal’s radar.
“I get on very well with Edu, we spoke on the phone,” he said. “Aouar is really appreciated by Mikel Arteta.

“Guendouzi was discussed during the call, he is a great player, but he is the wrong profile. We are not interested in that at all, we cut the conversation.”

Matteo Guendouzi’s future remains very much up in the air after barely featuring for the Gunners since Arteta took charge. In fact the midfielder’s last appearance came as a substitute against Chelsea back in May.
But one member of the Arsenal team Arteta doesn’t have to worry about is talisman Aubameyang. The Gabon striker finally put pen to paper with the Gunners yesterday signing a new three-year deal.
“Arsenal fans! Finally! As you know, I’ve just signed da ting,” he said in a live stream from the Emirates. “I wanted to share it with you guys and I’m so happy – a bit nervous! It’s finally done. I’m really, really happy to stay here, I mean, this is my home.
