Liverpool’s two new injuries before Leicester as Klopp confirms training blow

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool have sustained another defensive injury as January signing Ben Davies was ruled out of Saturday's trip to Leicester.

Davies was signed from Preston for a fee that could rise to £1.6million last month, with the centre-back joining the Reds on transfer deadline day.

He has yet to appear for his new club, and was left out of the squad for last weekend's defeat to Manchester City.

Klopp says the Englishman picked up a knock in training ahead of the Leicester game, in which fellow January arrival Ozan Kabak is making his Reds debut after arriving on loan from Schalke.

"It was a good training week, an important one," Klopp told BT Sport.

"Ben Davies picked up a knock as well, it's unbelievable but Ozan Kabak looked good. This is the proper test against [Jamie] Vardy and [Harvey] Barnes.

"He is in a new team, but it is not about a step up from the Bundesliga as you face top, top strikers there.

" Leicester are outstanding, Brendan is doing a brilliant job. They can change systems, they are really strong and are extremely good at the counter attack."

Divock Origi is also absent from the Liverpool squad at Leicester as he picked up a hamstring injury.

The Reds make two changes from the defeat to Manchester City, with Kabak and James Milner coming into the side for Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara.

Fabinho is out with an injury, while Thiago is on the bench.
