Liverpool have made Barcelona youngster Pedri a top priority for the summer transfer window as they look to rebuild for the 2021/22 season.
The teenager, who is valued at £70m, could help fill the gap left by Georginio Wijnaldum as an attacking midfielder.
But they will face some big obstacles, with the 18-year-old featuring prominently under Ronald Koeman last season.
Another option for them is Porto youngster Fabio Vieira, with reports from Portugal saying he has been added to their transfer list.
And the 21-year-old has enjoyed Player of the Tournament-winning performance for his country in the U21 European Championships, losing out to Germany in the final.
These two stories, along with a blow in pursuit of Adama Traore, are covered in Daily Star Sport’s transfer round-up…
Reds want Barcelona teenager
Liverpool’s biggest problem this summer is filling the gap left by Georginio Wijnaldum, with the Dutchmen set for a PSG move.
And Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo have reported that it has seen them put Barcelona’s Pedri on their list.
Having spoken to the 18-year-old’s agents back in April, according to theMirror, he enjoyed a strong first season after joining from Las Palmas last year.
Jurgen Klopp faces a battle, though, as he has a release clause of £70m while Ronald Koeman wants to tie him down to a new contract, with the Spanish youngster keen to stay.

Euro U21 star on Klopp’s list
Another man on the list of Wijnaldum replacements is Porto startles Fabio Vieira, who stole the show at the U21 European Championships with Portugal.
Having made an impressive step up from the Porto academy to make 29 appearances, UOLEsporte have reported that the 21-year-old is on the club’s ‘reference list’.
He has a £30m release clause, which could go up after being named Player of the Tournament for the Euros which he lost to Germany in the final.
Rivals ‘favourites’ for Traore
With Mohamed Salah’s future still uncertain, Wolves’ winger Adama Traore had been linked with an Anfield move for several months.
But SkyBet have reported that the Spaniard has also attracted the attention of rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Blues now ‘favourites’ to sign the speedy forward.
