Liverpool are already eyeing up two potential replacements for Georginio Wijnaldum with just five months remaining on the midfielder’s contract, according to reports.
Wijnaldum is yet to put pen to paper on an extension at Anfield, meaning as things stand he will become a free agent when his current deal expires on June 30.
The Netherlands international is free to begin negotiating a move abroad under the Bosman ruling, with former manager Ronald Koeman believed to be keen on bringing him to Barcelona.
It is understood that talks between Wijnaldum and Liverpool have reached a stalemate, suggesting he will depart Merseyside when his contract runs out.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions are scouting both Brighton ace Yves Bissouma and Lille star Renato Sanches as potential replacements and will make a final decision on who they want to go for in April.
Romano revealed in an interview with Anfield Watch that Bissouma is “appreciated as a player” by Kop chiefs and is firmly on their radar amid uncertainty over Wijnaldum’s future at the club.
However, he believes Liverpool may stand a better chance of signing Sanches, 23, because Lille will need to raise funds in the next summer transfer window.
The Portugal midfielder is best known in Britain for his unsuccessful loan stint with Swansea in 2017, which saw him make just 12 appearances for the Welsh club before returning to Bayern Munich.
He then racked up 17 appearances in Bayern’s 2018/19 Bundesliga title-winning campaign before leaving to join Lille in the summer of 2019, where he has made 41 appearances.
As for Bissouma, he has featured 76 times for Brighton since sealing a move to the South Coast outfit from Lille in 2018, becoming an important member of their first-team squad.

The 24-year-old has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, nevertheless, meaning Liverpool could have a bidding war on their hands if they decide he is the man to replace Wijnaldum this summer.
Bissouma only has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current Brighton deal, while Sanches has the same amount of time to run on his contract at Lille.
