Premier League: How is the title race shaping up?
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes the Reds “have to be concerned” about a Premier League title challenge from rivals Manchester United. Liverpool are currently top of the table but United are only three points behind them and they have a game in hand.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped points in their last two games, drawing with West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle, while United have been steadily rising up the table, winning seven of their last nine league games.
And Nicol believes United will challenge Liverpool for the title this season, claiming his former side “have to be concerned with United” because of their recent form.
Speaking to ESPN, Nicol said: “You look at Liverpool’s result today, and Man Utd’s result yesterday, the performance from one team that dominated the game today, should have won very very comfortably but yet end up with no point and then you’ve got a team in United coming up on the rails who pretty much didn’t deserve.
“There’s no way they deserve to win this game but they end up winning and getting three points.

“So that has to be a concern.
“At the end of the day, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will be looking at themselves, try not to look elsewhere, and just get the job done.
“But you have to be concerned with United because regardless of how they play right now they’re getting victories.”
United legend Roy Keane also believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will challenge Liverpool, telling Sky Sports: “I think over the last few months they’ve been heavily criticised, particularly over the home record.

“I’ve been quite critical of the back four, the goalkeeper, questioning where this team is going, but the name of this game is proving people wrong.
“Maybe, just maybe, this group of players can do that.
“They’ve been winning games, and that’s all you can do.
“United are in a great position considering how slow they were out of the blocks.
“If United can get their house in order at home, there’s no reason why United can’t stay up there.
“Manchester United were excellent. What Leeds left for United was space. We always thought Leeds were there for the taking.
“It’s a big boost for United. Liverpool are still the strongest, but United could be the best of the rest.”
