Liverpool fans are unhappy with club chiefs Fenway Sports Group (FSG) as problems amount over a move for Thiago Alcantara.
Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign the midfielder and the feeling is mutual with the Spaniard keen on playing in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old told his club Bayern Munich he will not sign a new contract, with his current one set to expire next summer.
It has led the Bundesliga champions to listen to offers for the ex- Barcelona star.
And they have priced him at around £25m – a total that Liverpool do not want to go close to.
Instead, they are prepared to play the waiting game and try land Thiago on a free transfer next summer.
However, they are dicing with destiny with a number of other sides vying for his signature.
Manchester City could make a move as Pep Guardiola looks for a replacement for David Silva.
And the Catalan coach knows him well from his time in charge at both Bayern and Barca.
