Aaron Ramsey has emerged as a surprise name linked with Liverpool due to Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the Juventus midfielder. With the Welshman’s contract up in 2023, the Italian giants are reportedly hopeful that the Anfield outfit will make a move for him.

The 30-year-old joined the Old Lady back in 2019 on a free transfer when his Arsenal deal expired, but having failed to hold down a regular first-team spot, could well make a Premier League return amid interest from a number of clubs.

Perhaps one of the more surprising names touted with a potential move for the midfielder is that of Liverpool, with Reds manager Klopp reportedly holding Ramsey in high regard.

According to ESPN, the German boss is a huge admirer of Ramsey and was interested in bringing the former Arsenal man to Anfield two years ago, prior to him joining Juventus.

With speculation surrounding his future, the Serie A side are reportedly optimistic that Klopp will act on his interest as they look to drive up the fee for the out-of-favour midfielder.

The Turin based club will no doubt have been boosted by Liverpool’s recent midfield injury woes and the impending disruption caused by January’s African Cup of Nations with the Reds set to lose a number of names.

Several other Premier League clubs have already been linked with Ramsey including West Ham, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and recently bankrolled Newcastle United.

Ramsey is reportedly keen on a return to England after enduring a frustrating spell over in Italy with injury and a lack of consistent game-time under different managers hampering his time with Juventus.

The Welshman has only netted six times for the Italians in 70 appearances across his two-and-a-bit seasons in Italy and has found minutes hard to come by so far this term.

Ramsey, who has lifted one Serie A title during his time with Juventus, has only made five appearances totalling 112 minutes this season, having found himself out-of-favour under new manager Massimiliano Allegri following his reappointment at the club back in May.

Speaking with FourFourTwo magazine recently, Ramsey confessed that his time in Turin has been frustrating while opening up on his struggles.

“It’s been a pretty frustrating couple of years for me, picking up little injuries and not being able to get back to full fitness,” Ramsey told FFT.

“It’s been a strange time in general, which hasn’t helped – arriving at Juventus with an injury, trying to get my fitness back, then you’re hit by a pandemic and we had to start again.

“It’s been difficult to get any consistency going, and that’s had an effect on my playing for Wales.”

Ramsey did however return to the national team set-up recently and hit three goals in four World Cup qualification appearances to guarantee his nation a spot in the play-offs next March.

According to reports, the midfielder is aiming to be back in the Premier League by the time Wales compete in those crucial World Cup qualifiers early next year.

And if Klopp follows through with his reported interest, it appears Ramsey could well by playing in the red of Liverpool come January.
