- Christopher Rohrbeck was at Liverpool for three years from 2017 until 2020
- In that time, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk worked closely alongside him
- Now, he could imminently return to his role as a physio in Liverpool’s setup
Jurgen Klopp has moved to bring a physio back to Liverpool with whom Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have previously enjoyed a close relationship with.
According to The Athletic, Christopher Rohrbeck’s return to Anfield is imminent in a move where Klopp has been the driving force. The publication adds that Rohrbeck’s impending return has been welcomed by the Liverpool squad.
Rohrbeck worked for Liverpool for three years, from 2017 until 2020, with Klopp bringing him in from Mainz where he had worked for 14 years. He left to return to his native Germany but now an Anfield comeback is on the cards.

Van Dijk singled Rohrbeck out for special praise at the end of Liverpool’s Premier League winning season in 2019-20.
‘It’s never easy to keep yourself fit. I try to look after myself,’ Van Dijk said after Liverpool finished that campaign with a 3-1 win over Newcastle.
‘A lot of credit has to go to Christopher Rohrbeck, our physio who is sadly leaving us. He has been outstanding for me.’
The Athletic also reports that Rohrbeck worked closely with Salah during his first spell with Liverpool and that Klopp stepped up his efforts to bring Rohrbeck back after Fabinho injured his hamstring in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Both Salah and Van Dijk went off inured in Liverpool’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea on penalties on Saturday.
Van Dijk was substituted at the end of 90 minutes after feeling a twinge in his knee.

Van Dijk went off after 90 minutes as well – both are expected to miss the Southampton match
Salah was forced off with a groin issue in the first half of the match at Wembley. Both are expected to miss Tuesday’s must-win encounter with Southampton but there is confidence they will be fit for the Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28.
The Rohrbeck move could also be interpreted by Liverpool fans as a positive signal in the club’s negotiations with Salah over a new contract.
As it stands, the Egypt star’s current terms are up at the end of next season and despite talks ongoing, a deal has yet to be struck.
