Liverpool's official Twitter account has been bombarded by trolls after they congratulated Steven Gerrard on his Scottish Premiership title win with Rangers.

Gerrard is a Reds icon having led the club to two FA Cups and their infamous 2005 Champions League triumph in 17 seasons at Anfield.

He hung up his boots in 2016 and was unveiled as Rangers manager two years later with the Gers facing an uphill task to overhaul bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

But Gerrard has done just that, with Celtic's 0-0 draw at Dundee United on Sunday confirming Rangers as Scottish champions for the first time since 2011.

The 40-year-old's former club were quick to praise the Ibrox boss for his remarkable achievement, but not all supporters were happy.

One wrote: "abahahahahahah that’s actually disgusting," while another added, "It’s the Scottish premiership, tin pot club mentality."

"Admin why," was the view of one confused Reds fan.

Others call Liverpool a "small club" and joked about Gerrard's failure to win a Premier League title during his time at Liverpool.

Rangers have been the most dominant team in the Scottish Premiership by far this season, winning 28 of their 32 matches.

The Gers are currently unbeaten in the league and have conceded just nine goals in total.

They're also going strong in Europe, with Slavia Prague awaiting them in Thursday's Europa League last-16 first-leg.
