Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo has hinted that the Barcelona star could be on his way to Manchester City.
Messi wants to leave the Nou Camp this summer with a link-up with former boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad a potential option.
Should Messi join City, he would also link up with Argentina team-mate Sergio Aguero, who is the record goalscorer at the Premier League giants.
And Messi’s wife has hinted the move could happen by following Aguero’s girlfriend Sofia Calzetti on Instagram, with the follow reciprocated.
Messi and Aguero are good friends though the pair are yet to taste success in an Argentina jersey following a runners-up finish at the 2014 World Cup, having also reached back-to-back Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016.
Though they haven’t always been close with Aguero admitting the first time they met that he didn’t have a clue who Messi was.
Aguero said back in 2014: “I was about to turn 17. We were both called up for some friendlies. We are at the AFA training complex.
“We were sitting at the table with him, [Ezequiel] Garay and [Mauro] Formica. He was sat beside me.
Why Lionel Messi used a ‘burofax’ to tell Barcelona he wants to quit club
“I looked at him but I didn’t know him. They were talking about Nike football boots and Garay was saying that they were really good.
“Then Leo said, ‘They’ve brought them from the USA’. So I started thinking ‘Where is this guy from?’. I couldn’t resist and I asked him ‘what’s your name?’.
“He said ‘Leo’ and I asked ‘and what’s your last name?’ and he said ‘Messi’ and I didn’t know him.

“I asked him again for his last name to see if it sounded familiar. He said ‘Messi’ again. He laughed and then we all laughed.
“They made fun of me. Later I remember that I had heard in the news about some kid in Barcelona that arrived there when he was 12. That’s when I realised it must be him. That’s how we met.”
