Leroy Sane to join Bayern Munich from Man City in £45m deal

Leroy Sane is moving to Bayern Munich in a deal worth up to £54.8million to Manchester City.

Sane, who was out of contract at City next summer, will fly to Munich tonight to undergo a medical and complete the move, with the winger signing a five-year deal.

Bayern will pay City £45m up front, with a further £9.8m payable with the completion of clause-related add-ons.

City also have a clause inserted within the deal that entitles them to 10 per cent of any subsequent fee if Sane is sold by City.

After Sane rejected several contract extension offers from City, the club accepted he would be sold this summer, rather than leave as a free agent next year.

Despite wanting to keep Sane, City believe they have negotiated the best possible deal for Sane, given his injury record, the fact he could have left as a free agent and the profit they have made on the £37m they paid Schalke for him in 2016.

And with Bayern stating their intention to pay just £35m for Sane a couple of weeks ago, City's decision not to accept that figure has been vindicated with the German champions having paid substantially more for the winger.

Sane has missed the majority of the season after tearing his ACL in the Community Shield win over Liverpool in August, and he only made his return last week when he came off the bench in the 5-0 win against Burnley.

He made a total of 135 appearances for City, scoring 39 goals, and he helped the side two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups during his time at the club.
