Jermaine Jenas and Joe Cole have been left in awe of Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold after his man-of-the-match performance against Newcastle. The Reds fought back from going a goal down to claim what was ultimately a comfortable win at Anfield on Thursday night.
Jonjo Shelvey had put the Magpies in front after just seven minutes, but two goals in the space of four minutes from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah turned the game on its head.
Alexander-Arnold then capped his superb display by scoring a stunning goal from more than 25 yards out.
Roberto Firmino laid the ball back to the right-back before he took a touch and unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew in past Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka.
The stunning goal was just reward for what was an impressive performance from Alexander-Arnold who continues to show why he is arguably the best right-back in the top-flight.
Alexander-Arnold admitted after the game that he had been trying to score such a goal for five years, having dragged many of his attempts from that distance wide.

He made eight recoveries, three interceptions and had a pass success rate of 76 per cent to help Liverpool to the win.
It was a performance good enough to earn him man of the match honours from BT Sport commentator Steve McManaman.
Jenas was left equally impressed by the Liverpool star and hailed the goal as being “perfection”.
“He just hit it so pure and Trent’s a guy who works on the details,” the former Tottenham star told BT Sport.

“I know we say we see it all the time but his level of consistency is just so high that yeah we’ve seen him score spectacular goals.
“But like he said in his interview he’s tried to strike a few where he’s pulled it. That was perfection and that’s as pure as you can get as a striker.”
Jenas was not the only one who was left in awe by Alexander-Arnold at Anfield, with former Reds hero Cole also hailing the 23-year-old.
Cole was particularly impressed by the goal, though suggested that the movement of referee Mike Dean may have prevented Dubravka from saving the strike.
Despite highlighting Dean’s potential involvement in the shot going in, Cole did hail Alexander-Arnold as a “special player”.
“That was a special goal from a special player and we do see it regularly but to pick up the ball from this distance, just out of his feet that is just as clean as you like,” he said.
“If you look at Mike Dean, I don’t know the rulings but he’s certainly affected the goalkeeper’s vision but in saying that it’s as clean as you can hit a football. It was crisp, it was top bins.”
Alexander-Arnold will next be in action on Sunday when Liverpool travel to Covid-hit Tottenham as they look to keep the pressure on league leaders Manchester City.
