Frustrated Santi Cazorla still hasn’t got his Arsenal demand

Santi Cazorla expressed last year that he was frustrated at being unable to have a proper farewell after leaving Arsenal, something he is still yet to do.

Spanish creative midfielder Cazorla left Arsenal back in 2018 after having two years out through injury.

Cazorla, who was gifted with his ability to play the ball comfortably with either foot, joined Villarreal and made an instant impact – even earning a recall to the Spain side.

But he is still waiting for his final goodbye at Arsenal after insisting he wanted to thank the club for the way they treated him.

Speaking to BBC Sport last year, he expressed his sadness at being unable to have a proper send-off.

Cazorla said: "It was frustrating to not be able to say goodbye to a club who treated me so well.

"It is something left in my career to say goodbye properly.

"I am eternally grateful to the club and the fans for the way they continue to treat me."

Cazorla, now playing for Qatari side Al-Sadd, managed by ex-Barcelona player Xavi, has recently been linked with a return to the club as a coach.

And the player himself recently insisted he would love to return to the Emirates if Mikel Arteta came calling.

“It is something that I would value tomorrow, [but] now I am not considering it,” Cazorla said to AS.

“If I am given the opportunity and he believes that I can help him, it is something that I would not mind and would leave the door open to enjoy that experience with him.

“But there is nothing for today, it will be seen.”
