Forgotten Manchester United man rejects new deal and prepares to seal exit

Manchester United have reportedly offered Timothy Fosu-Mensah a new three-and-a-half year deal but he has turned it down in order to leave the club.

Fosu-Mensah came through the ranks of the Manchester United academy after joining Ajax six years ago but his current deal expires at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has struggled to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans and has made just one Premier League appearance this season.

He has featured off the bench in two Champions League games as well but is desperate for regular game time and could now leave in search of first-team football.

According to the Daily Mail, United have offered him the opportunity to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

But amid interest from abroad, he could turn it down and end his association with the club.

Fosu-Mensah is planning to explore his options in January – when he is free to speak to foreign clubs – before deciding on his future.

Marseille, Monaco and Hertha Berlin are among the sides interested in signing him and are willing to pay a small fee to sign him next month.

Fosu-Mensah has previously enjoyed loan spells at Fulham and Crystal Palace and has made 30 appearances in total for Manchester United.

His ability to play anywhere across the back-four and in defensive midfield makes him an attractive proposition and he is a full international for the Netherlands.
