Fantasy Premier League managers can sometimes be conflicted over who to captain for a certain gameweek. With players wearing the armband earning double points, making the right choice can play a big part on the standings within your league. Gameweek 4 served up some shock results, with Aston Villa thrashing Liverpool 7-2 and Tottenham beating Manchester United 6-1.
Villa duo Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins both returned big hauls, earning 24 and 19 points respectively, although not many would have assigned either of them the captaincy.
The same could be said of Ben Chilwell, who collected 18 points in his Chelsea debut.
However, some popular captain choices still delivered impressive hauls last time out.
Tottenham duo Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane earned 18 and 16 points respectively, while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah picked up 13 points despite the defeat to Villa.
The deadline for Gameweek 5 is now fast approaching, with line-ups and captains having to be set by 11am on Saturday.
And to help you out, Express Sport looks at some of the top picks and differentials for the armband this weekend.
Fantasy Premier League captain tips
Harry Kane (£10.6m) vs West Ham
There have been some concerns over Kane’s fitness heading into Gameweek 5 but, if available, he’ll no doubt be at the top of many shortlists for the captaincy.
The Spurs striker has scored three goals and registered six assists this season, with an impressive 42 FPL points coming in his last three league games.
West Ham have found some form of their own in recent weeks and won’t be easy opponents, but it’s worth noting that Kane also scored in both league fixtures against them last season.
Heung-Min Son (£9.1m) vs West Ham
If Kane is a captaincy candidate this weekend, then so is Son.
The South Korean has scored six goals since the start of the season and also netted against West Ham last term.
No player has been transferred in more than Son ahead of GW5, with the Spurs star being added to over a million teams.

Mohamed Salah (£12.2m) vs Everton
Only Kane and Son have scored more FPL points this season than Salah, proving he is still a valuable asset even if Liverpool have a bad day.
This was perfectly demonstrated in the drubbing at Villa Park, as the Liverpool star still managed to bag himself a brace.
Everton have conceded two goals in both their home games this season and Salah will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again.
Fantasy Premier League differential captains
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) vs Liverpool
Those looking to go against Liverpool may wish to consider Calvert-Lewin.
Alisson remains out for the Reds, meaning Adrian, who made a number of mistakes against Villa, will continue in goal.
No-one has scored more league goals than Calvert-Lewin’s six this season and he will be aiming for first Merseyside derby goal this weekend.

Kai Havertz (£8.4m) vs Southampton
Havertz started off highly-owned in FPL but those numbers have dropped as he adapts to life in the Premier League.
However, the Chelsea star could be in line for a big haul.
He netted once and provided two assists in two starts for Germany during the recent international break and before that he registered an assist in each of his last two league games.
