Liverpool star Fabinho is reportedly looking to extend his contract with the club and is said to be in the same situation as Virgil van Dijk. The Brazilian has become a key member of Jurgen Klopp’s plans since joining the Reds in a £39m deal back in 2018.
Fabinho currently has three years remaining on his deal with the reigning Premier League champions and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that talks are ongoing about an extension.
Speaking on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast, Romano said: “Talks are going to start for Fabinho to extend his contract with Liverpool.
“It is the same situation [as] Van Dijk, they have the same contract, so two years [remaining] with Liverpool.
“Fabinho wants to extend his contract with Liverpool.

“He [gave] an interview explaining he is so happy with Liverpool, but he’s also so happy for the future of Liverpool; [he has been] talking with [Jurgen] Klopp about what’s going to happen in the future of the club.
“So, he wants to extend his contract, and next year, I’m convinced he’s going to talk with Liverpool to extend his contract.
“His agents are waiting for a call from Liverpool.
“The situation is so calm because he had a bid, last summer, from a top club in Spain, and he decided to stay at Liverpool.

“So, he’s convinced that his future is at Liverpool and next year they were going to start to talk [about a new] four or five-year contract with Liverpool.”
The player recently spoke about a potential ‘renewal’, telling Brazilian outlet UOL: “I have this [season] and two more years of contract.
“I intend to fulfil these three years and soon see if there is a renewal or not.
“But my focus today is on Liverpool and I am very happy here.

“I am in a league that is very good to play, very competitive, when you play here you do not want to leave.
“Liverpool have grown a lot in recent years, we have a strong team that has everything to continue like this and what we are achieving with this group has entered history.
“We can do more and more and I want to be part of that.”
Fabinho is currently out of action with a hamstring injury but the club believe he should be back to full fitness after this month’s international break, with the 27-year-old pulling out of international duty with Brazil.
