Former Chelsea star Damien Duff has laid into former Blues star Eden Hazard, calling him “fat” and criticising the forward’s attitude at Real Madrid.

The Belgian, who made a £130m move to Spain in 2019, has struggled with injuries to make just 38 appearances in two seasons.

This has seen the 30-year-old get blasted for his weight by Spanish media, having put on some kilos in the last pre-season.

He did get a run-in against his former side, though, by coming off the bench in Madrid’s 1-1 Champions League semi-final first-leg draw against his former side.

But Duff, who won two Premier League titles in his three seasons at Stamford Bridge, slated Hazard’s physique in a damning assessment.

Speaking to RTE , the former midfielder said: “You’d worry for him going forward.

“He’s 30, he relies on sharpness, being a quick dribbler. We all know after 30 it’s… like that [points downward].

“He’s never been a top pro and he’s never had the drive of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo. If he did, you’d probably be mentioning him with them two players.

“He turned up for his first pre-season at Real Madrid – Galactico, 160 million [euros] – overweight. Fat. Call it what you want.

“You’d worry for him, because he’s had 11 injuries and to come back from 11 injuries – and he’s hardly played in two years – you need to have drive, you need to be a top pro.”

Hazard has spoken out about his fitness, claiming he was watching his weight during the fist Covid-19 lockdown.

But Duff blasted: “You could argue that throughout his career, he’s always battled with his weight.
