Everton target out-of-favour Juventus defender Merih Demiral in deal that could be worth £27m as Old Lady begin plans for player overhaul after tough season

Everton are in the race to sign Juventus defender Merih Demiral, with Andrea Pirlo looking to get rid of some of his players after a disappointing campaign.

After winning nine Serie A titles in a row, that’s going to come to an end for Juventus, who sit in fourth with five games to go, 13 points behind leaders Inter Milan. 

They were also knocked out of the Champions League Round of 16 by Porto, which means Head Coach Andrea Pirlo is looking to bring in new players next season.

Out-of-favour Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral is a £27million target for Everton

In order to do that some players will have to leave, and according to Calciomercato, Merih Demiral could be the first out.

And the Turkish defender have some interest from Everton, who are looking to bolster their defensive options as they aim for another top-four challenge next season.

Everton will be willing to pay between £22million and £27m for his signature, and Juventus could be tempted into a deal. 

Andrea Pirlo has endured a tough season with Juventus. The side are only in fourth on goal difference and are 13 points off leaders Inter Milan

Demiral has played 14 times in Serie A season but he’s relied on injuries to the likes of Mathijs de Ligt and Girgio Chiellini to get the nod.

The 23-year-old will have plenty of competition should he move to Goodison Park though, with the likes of Michael Keane, Ben Godfrey, Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina all fighting for a place in the team.

Everton are also believed to be interested in Norwich right-back Max Aarons.
