Jordan Pickford was back to his error-prone worst for Everton following his Euro 2020 heroics for England during the summer.

The goalkeeper made his first appearance for Everton in a pre-season on Saturday and gifted Manchester United the lead after just eight minutes.

He allowed Lucas Digne’s headed backwards pass to bounce off his body and into the path of Mason Greenwood who gleefully fired United ahead.

A few minutes later, Pickford spilled a tame Bruno Fernandes effort and was relieved Anthony Martial couldn’t get onto the rebound but the respite didn’t last long.

Pickford was then beaten by a glancing header from England centre half Harry Maguire in the 15th minute.

Pickford was left flailing as Fernandes whipped a 25-yard free-kick around the wall for the third goal after half-an-hour,

It meant Pickford conceded the same number of goals in half an hour against Manchester United that he did in seven games at the European Championship.

Pickford was substituted at half-time and replaced by new signing Asmir Begovic, who was beaten by late Diogo Dalot strike as United ran out 4-0 winners.
