Everton are confident they will be able to secure the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes in the summer transfer window after submitting a new bid for the Lille defender. The Toffees have been pursuing Gabriel for several months, however, they do face competition for his signature, with Chelsea and Real Madrid both keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.
However, according to Football Insider, Everton have submitted an offer close to the £20million mark with Lille for Gabriel.
The report states that an Everton source also confirmed that the Toffees have yet to agree on a fee with Lille or the structure of payments.
But Everton are still confident of completing a deal for the promising centre-back.
Gabriel has previously spoken with Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti and has visited the club’s training facilities.

The report claims Everton have already offered the defender a lucrative five-year contract that has been provisionally accepted.
Gabriel signed a new contract with Lille in February committing his future to the club until 2023, but a move to Goodison Park would secure him another huge pay rise.
Chelsea have contacted Lille to make it known they are interested if the Ligue 1 club decides to sell, but Real’s interest might turn the player’s head to a move to the Bernabeau.

According to Spanish publication AS, Los Blancos have turned their attention to Gabriel, as they believe their chances of signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano are diminishing.
However, there are a couple of issues for Real and the player about securing a potential deal.
Firstly the young Brazilian wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting place and instead would be the club’s third-choice centre-back behind Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
In addition to this, Gabriel would currently need to take one of Real’s three non-EU player slots, which are currently filled by three Brazilians – Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Eder Militao.
As for Everton, if Lille accepts the £20m offer, they will still be making a substantial profit on a player they signed from Brazilian side Avai in 2017 in a deal worth £2.7m (€3m).

Gabriel has had his best season at Lille this campaign and has made 34 appearances in all competitions, including six matches in the Champions League.
And last month Lille president Gerard Lopez insisted Gabriel is on track to join a “really big club” when the transfer window opens.
“It’s true that he would like to go and try something else out,” Lopez told Sky Sports.
“We haven’t taken that decision yet, but he’s received a number of offers.
“I feel he’s closer to one club than others, but nothing’s done yet so we’ll see.”
