Erling Haaland sends message to Mikel Arteta over Martin Odegaard signing

Erling Haaland has told Mikel Arteta that he needs to give Martin Odegaard regular minutes to see the best of him.

The Norwegian made the move to Arsenal from Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season.

Odegaard has struggled to establish himself in the Spanish capital, but reminded the world of his quality in a loan spell at Real Sociedad recently.

Haaland has hailed his compatriot as a confidence player and insists when he is feeling comfortable that "incredible things can happen".

"It will be interesting. Arsenal are a big club in England," Haaland told VG when asked about Odegaard’s move to Arsenal.

"It’s a bit different football, but I think he can fit in well with Mikel Arteta in the No.10 role. He can enjoy himself there.

"He has to get in there and simply start playing games. That’s what he needs.

"We know how good Odegaard can be. When he gains confidence with the ball, we know that the most incredible things can happen."

Odegaard will serve to add more creativity to an Arsenal side that have recently found some impressive form.

They've won five of their last six in the league and appear to have rediscovered their mojo under Arteta.

The Spaniard is keen to play attractive football and their new recruit insists shared values were a factor in his decision to move to the Emirates.

"I spoke to him before coming here, of course," Odegaard told Arsenal’s official website.

"That was very important for me and he seems like a top manager and I liked his ideas, the way he sees football and also the way he is.

"He gave me a great feeling and that was important for me to come here. He was crucial.

"I think every time you go to a new place, you want to make sure that it feels good and that there is a plan. But I think everything here just seems good.

"I like the club and I always liked the way that the club wants to play. Everything about the club and now how the manager wants to play, I think it’s a club that really suits me well. So I think it’s a good match."
