The Premier League has been disrupted once more as Covid outbreaks have led to multiple postponements to kick off the festive period.

Cases have been reported across the entirety of the Premier League, although the severity of numbers has fluctuated, meaning that some sides are up to three games in hand on the rest.

Due to the health implications and concerns amongst the clubs, an emergency meeting has been scheduled on Monday to discuss what next steps should be taken, with certain teams suffering from a lack of squad depth.

The meeting will discuss whether to postpone an entire round of fixtures, with a bunch of festive fixtures potentially facing the axe

According to The Athletic, Premier League clubs are set to discuss whether to postpone an entire round of festive fixtures at a meeting tomorrow, with game week 20 the most likely round to be called off.

The fixtures for that game week fall between December 28,29 and 30, with the pick of the bunch being Liverpool v Leicester, potentially delaying another reunion for former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

It was quite the super Sunday as Liverpool and Tottenham ended the weekend in style with a 2-2 draw, but it was one of only four fixtures that took place over the weekend.

It could have been more too, as Chelsea were denied a postponement request, and suffered a disappointing 0-0 stalemate with Wolves.

With no sign of Covid easing up anytime soon, a postponement period could be exactly what the league needs to stabilise itself once more.

A decision is expected to be made final tomorrow, and the meeting between Premier League club executives at will take place at 1pm GMT on Monday.
