Reports emerged over the weekend that Chelsea will try again with an approach to sign Declan Rice in January and Paul Robinson believes West Ham will eventually cave in to the “spending power” of the Blues. Rice has long been linked with a move to a team competing higher up the table ever since breaking through at West Ham.
He’s now established himself as a regular England international under Gareth Southgate.
And he’s been crucial to West Ham’s strong start to the season, which has seen them pick up wins against Wolves and Leicester as well as draws against Tottenham and Manchester City.
They also narrowly lost to defending Premier League champions Liverpool at the weekend.
The Hammers were able to fend off interest in Rice from Chelsea in the summer.

Chelsea largely focussed their efforts elsewhere, spending close to £250million on six new signings.
But it’s been claimed recently that Chelsea’s main focus now is to try and bring Rice back to Stamford Bridge after releasing him as a teenager.
An approach could come as early as the January transfer window, although West Ham are under no pressure to sell given Rice has a contract which runs until 2024.
However, former Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson believes Chelsea will eventually get their man in 2021, be it in January or at the end of the season.

“This transfer just keeps rumbling on,” he told Football Insider.
“It was supposed to happen in the summer.
“Frank is obviously a big fan of Declan Rice and he clearly sees him as part of the jigsaw puzzle at Chelsea.
“Unfortunately for smaller clubs, when the likes of Chelsea come with their spending power the transfer does tend to happen.
“Whether that be in January or the summer, I think we will see Declan Rice in a Chelsea shirt before the end of 2021.”
Frank Lampard has continually been tinkering with his midfield this season, with N’Golo Kante holding the position just in front of the defence.
The Chelsea boss has indicated he wants one defensive-minded midfielder flanking two players who can interchange as the No 8.
Mason Mount and Kai Havertz were given the nod at the weekend for the 3-0 win over Burnley.
But Chelsea’s interest in Rice coincides with ongoing rumours regarding Kante’s future at Stamford Bridge.
