Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Manchester United despite reports to the contrary, according to Jorge Mendes. The Portugal international scored his 14th goal of the campaign in his side’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Thursday night. And though there’s been talk of a potential move away from Old Trafford, that doesn’t appear to be on the agenda for the time being.

It looked as though Ronaldo was going to join Manchester City back in the summer after Pep Guardiola missed out on Harry Kane.

City were ready to negotiate with Juventus for Ronaldo however, after late interventions from the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Bruno Fernandes, he ended up returning to United instead.

Ronaldo scored on his second debut for the club, bagging a brilliant brace as Newcastle were beaten 4-1.

But it’s been a topsy-turvy season for United, with Ralf Rangnick now the man in charge following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With results leaving plenty to be desired, talk of Ronaldo potentially leaving has arisen.

A return to Real Madrid has been mooted, while mischievous reports in the Catalonian press linked him with Barcelona earlier in the week.

However, Mendes has now put rumours of Ronaldo being unhappy to bed.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is very happy at Man United,” the Portuguese agent told Sky Sport, per Fabrizio Romano.

“He’s going to continue with his solid, great performances as always in his career.

”It’s going be a great season for him, I’m sure.”

Ronaldo scored as United beat Burnley on Thursday night to boost their chances of securing Champions League football for next season.

Scott McTominay put the Red Devils ahead with a fine curling effort after some good work from the club’s No 7 in the build-up.

Ben Mee’s own goal then doubled United’s lead and came after some fine work from Jadon Sancho, who was a constant menace throughout the match.

Ronaldo scored United’s third and final goal before the interval, with Aaron Lennon pulling one back for the away side.

It was a convincing performance from Rangnick’s team, especially given it came just mere days after a dire display away at Newcastle.

And Ronaldo took to social media after the game to express his happiness with the result.

“Best way to end the year! Great victory,” he said.

Rangnick, meanwhile, praised his side after they clinched a third win from four Premier League games since his appointment.

“It doesn’t make sense to speak about individual players. The whole team performance was a lot better,” Rangnick told Amazon Prime.

“I was also pleased with the performance of our wingers. Jadon did well, especially after he scored. You could tell that improved his confidence level.

“The same with Mason as well. The work ethic was amazing.

“I was pleased for Cristiano and for Edi (Edinson Cavani). They did their jobs against the ball. As I said, overall, it was a good performance.”

He added: “Yes, I was very happy that he (McTominay) could play.

“It was only this afternoon that we decided he could play because of the ankle injury that he suffered against Newcastle. It was good to have him in the team again.”

United are next in action against Wolves on Monday (5.30pm).
