Cristiano Ronaldo fan ends up in hospital after failed copy of SIU celebration

An attempted imitation of Cristiano Ronaldo's iconic SIU celebration went horribly wrong during a local kickabout with one exuberant fan taken straight to hospital.

The Manchester United and Portugal icon has accompanied many of his 800 career goals with the spinning jump celebration – but not all have what it takes to repeat it.

One viral video shows an excited supporter reel off after scoring a penalty on a small local pitch only for his left knee to collapse after landing as his friends began to shout SUI.

It then cuts to a clip of the fallen footballer, while still in high spirits, being taken down what appears to be a hospital hallway by two friends while sitting on a wheelchair.

An X-Ray then takes place with the man still wearing his football attire, with a final video showing him enjoying a pizza and a drink in the waiting room.

The 26 second clip has attracted 44 thousand likes and almost six thousand retweets since it was first posted in March – bringing in an astonishing 6.2 million views.

One viewer said in response: "Cristiano RonalDON'T!"

With a second adding: "It's funny…until it happens to you."

With a third writing: "I haven't laughed so much in a long time hahaha poor guy."

Ronaldo has being delighting fans with his trademark celebration since his time with Real Madrid, but first tried it without the accompanying shout when playing for United against Chelsea back in 2008.

He told in 2019: "But it was natural, to be honest.

"After that, I started doing it and I feel like the fans, when they see me they're like 'Sii' and I was like, 'wow, people remember Cristiano because of the Sii,' so I continued like that."

Ronaldo will be looking to add a few more goals to his tally before heading to the World Cup with Portugal having only managed a single goal across the first chunk of the season with a penalty against Sheriff Tiraspol.
