Chelsea are on course for their biggest summer spend ever after finally thrashing out a £90m deal for Kai Havertz.
The Blues are expected to have a bid of £72m plus £18m in add-ons accepted by Bayer Leverkusen this week.
They are also poised to complete the £50m transfer of Ben Chilwell from Leicester, and the free transfer signing of Thiago Silva from Paris St-Germain.
All three deals could be done by the end of the week – and will push Chelsea’s spending to over £220m this summer.
That represents the biggest investment ever made by the club in one transfer window.
Chelsea spent just over £200m in 2017 but this year’s spend will eclipse that total, and could go even higher if they also manage to bring in a goalkeeper.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has doubts about Kepa Arrizabalaga and is in the market for a replacement if the Spain stopper leaves the club.
But it is the signing of Havertz that Lampard has prioritised this week, with the 21-year-old forward set to sign a five-year deal.
Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller described talk that Havertz was on the brink of leaving as “nonsense” last night.

But those close to the deal expect it to happen within days as the Bundesliga club have won the battle to receive a huge chunk of the fee up front.
England full back Chilwell underwent medical checks yesterday on his injured heel but this is not expected to scupper his move.
And Brazil great Silva, who is leaving PSG as a free agent after their Champions League final defeat, is also set to join.
The 35-year-old has been offered a one-year deal with an option for a further year, and will bring a wealth of experience with him to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have already spent £84m this summer on Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech – and are preparing a clear-out to help claw back some of the money.
But their transfer budget had already been boosted by the sales last summer of Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata when the club were still under a transfer ban.
