Chelsea are ready to test the waters with a shockingly low bid for Ousmane Dembele this month. Barcelona have told the winger to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea are set to move for Dembele as his contract at Barcelona dwindles down with six months left on his deal.

The Frenchman has been told by Barca that he is free to leave after failing to agree to new terms with negotiations falling through.

Club director Mateu Alemany explicitly told the winger that he is no longer welcome at the Nou Camp in a strong message.

He said: “It’s clear that Dembele does not want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project.

“We told Dembele he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before January 31.”

It has led to interest in his services with Chelsea among them, while the likes Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also sniffing around a deal.

According to transfer guru Pedro Almeida, the Blues have stolen a march on their rivals and are readying a bid of £12.5m (€15m).

That is an alarmingly low amount – especially considering that is a fraction of the £135m Barca splashed out on Dembele five years ago from Borussia Dortmund.

However, with the 24-year-old free to leave at the end of the season for nothing, the Spanish giants might feel better off cutting ties for any amount.

It remains to be seen how Barcelona will respond after making their transfer stance while Thomas Tuchel knows the player well.

During his one season at Dortmund, it was when the German coach was in charge and the winger looked like a potential superstar under his tutelage.

That has failed to transpire at the Nou Camp despite his mammoth price tag and many Blaugrana fans are keen to see the back of him.

The France international has been plagued by injuries while there have been reports of missing training and being addicted to video games.

A knee injury has kept him out of the first-team largely this season and he made just six La Liga appearances.
