Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly stepped in to tell Marina Granovskaia which striker she should be trying to bring to Stamford Bridge this summer. Thomas Tuchel feels a new No 9 will help the club challenge for the Premier League title once again.
Chelsea spent big on capturing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig last summer but the Germany international has struggled in front of goal.
Tammy Abraham has fallen out of favour since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard and he is expected to leave Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud is the only other senior forward at the club and he has penned a one-year contract extension.
However, the Frenchman is not expected to start every game and has been linked with a move to Italian side AC Milan.
Tuchel has three world-class finishers on his shortlist; Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku.
The latter does not want to return to the Premier League after a storming season with Inter Milan, in which he won the Serie A title.
It has been rumoured that Chelsea are keen to sign Haaland and are leading the race for the Borussia Dortmund forward.
However, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims billionaire owner Abramovich has stepped in to deliver his verdict.
The Russian would apparently prefer his money is spent on a proven Premier League goalscorer Kane over the younger talent Haaland.
It is unlikely that Tottenham will want to sell their talisman, and especially not to a domestic rival.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara has told Express Sport that Kane would be a perfect fit for Chelsea.
“Harry Kane might be a Londonder through and through and might think Chelsea’s my best option,” Kamara said.
“You know Chelsea are fresh from winning the Champions League, they’re a club who every few years wins the Premier League.
“I can’t say for certain, but out of the three, I’d probably say he’ll end up at City, but Harry might tell you ‘I don’t want to uproot my family, I want to stay in London, if I do Chelsea’s the best option’.”
He added: “I think one of the Manchester clubs would welcome his ability and with Aguero going, he looks the obvious choice.
“You tend to look to see who would benefit. When you look at the Champions League final, you look at the fact that City played without a centre forward.
“That wouldn’t have been possible if Harry Kane was there. I thought it shouldn’t have been possible with a fit Sergio Aguero there to be honest, but that’s the way Pep chose to do it.
“I think he fits the criteria for them. The same as United, they need a goalscorer week in, week out, who can guarantee 20 plus goals. Getting that amount of goals guarantees you success.”
