Chelsea are looking into the possibility of a sensational return for striker Romelu Lukaku and are willing to sacrifice six players to make the move happen.
Lukaku spent three years at Stamford Bridge between 2010 and 2014 but spent most of them out on-loan at West Bromwich Albion and Everton.
Now, Roman Abramovich is ready to sanction a sensational return for the Belgian striker who failed to score in his 10 appearances in Chelsea blue.
The Chelsea owner is looking to flog five players to try and fund the deal for the Inter Milan forward, including current number nine Tammy Abraham.
The Nerazzurri need to lower their wage bill by 15-20 percent this summer, on top of selling a couple of their star players, due to their poor financial situation.
The Serie A winners announced this week that manager Antonio Conte would be leaving following two years in Milan for the same reason.
Conte wanted assurances that he would be backed in the transfer window and a chance to build on his success after delivering the scudetto for the first time in eleven years.
Lukaku himself is a great admirer of the Italian and took to Instagram in support of his ex-manager:
“Thanks Antonio. You changed me as a player and made me stronger … and we won together!” Lukaku wrote on his social media.
“I’m glad that I’ve had you as a coach. I’ll take your principles for the rest of my career. I owe you a lot.”
The ex-Chelsea boss is reportedly linked to become manager of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
With the Milanese club needing to sell, Lukaku is reportedly top of Thomas Tuchel's transfer list and hopes to re-coup the £80 million needed through player sales.
On the transfer list are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham.
