Chelsea star Kurt Zouma has heaped praise on new signing Thiago Silva, and explained that having the Brazilian veteran has been a major help to the Blues’ younger players.
Silva became one of three defensive signings made by Chelsea this summer, joining on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
The 36-year-old signed a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the club holding the option for a further 12 months.
Frank Lampard was eager to improve Chelsea’s defence this summer, making the area his top priority early in the window. He also sanctioned moves for Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr, though the latter was loaned to Porto for the season.
Chelsea’s defensive record last season was a major cause for concern, with the team shipping 54 goals in the league alone.

This season didn’t start too much better, however, with the Blues conceding three goals away at West Brom in Silva’s debut.
However, they kept a clean sheet against Crystal Palace as they swept past the Eagles with a 4-0 win, with Silva and Chilwell playing together for the first time.
Reports suggested after the game that Chelsea’s defenders were speaking in French to each other, with Silva acting as the experienced head in the back line.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Zouma heaped praise on the Champions League finalist, explaining that the rest of the side are excited to learn from him.
