Barcelona fans think they are being "robbed" by Antoine Griezmann’s clause

Barcelona fans think they are being "robbed" in the deal that has seen Antoine Griezmann return to Atletico Madrid on loan.

Griezmann completed the switch back to his former club late last night as part of a chain of deals that saw Chelsea pick up midfielder Saul Niguez on loan.

Barca let the France international go to save £600,000 per week on their wage bill and further ease their financial difficulties that forced Lionel Messi to leave for PSG.

He will spend the season with Atletico and come the end of the campaign his old side will have the option to make the move permanent with a fee of €40m.

That clause being inserted into the contract has caused quite the stir with the Catalan club's fanbase.

You can understand their frustrations – Griezmann was signed for €120m only two years ago, so could now leave for just a third of his fee.

One fan said: "We are so done…they robbed us big time we gave them 100million plus for him and now they buy him back for only 40 I'm done I have no trust in Laporta anymore."

How much is Griezmann truly worth after his lacklustre Barca spell? Give us your estimation in the comments section.

Another tweeted: "Disasterclass from Bartomeu and Laporta."

Others added: "We bought him with 120 f**kin million euros 2 years ago…." and: "40 million for Griezmann. We paid that for Paulinho."

It's just the latest in the long line of poor pieces of business that have got the Spanish club into such a worrying financial position.

And they've not even come away with much to show from it either.

Barcelona won just the Copa del Rey during Griezmann's two-year spell and he netted just 35 times in 102 appearances.

In stark contrast, his previous spell at Atletico yielded better than a goal every other game. He scored 133 goals for them in 257 appearances.

He will now look to recreate that goalscoring form with ex-teammate Luis Suarez in what could be a formidable frontline in Madrid.
