Barcelona are believed to be willing to listen to offers for Antoine Griezmann this summer, with an eye to raising funds for a potential move to bring Erling Haaland to the Nou Camp.

The Spanish giants’ dire financial situation, with debt believed to be in the region of £1bn in February, has seemingly made it a necessity for the club to recruit cheaply and bring in funds through player sales where possible.

Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia have been strongly linked with free transfers to Barcelona, with Sergio Aguero another free agent who could make the move to Spain this summer.

The club are looking to raise funds to allow a  big-money move for striker Erling Haaland

According to Sky Sport in Italy, the club are keen to move Griezmann on this summer if the right bid comes in, knowing significant funds need to be raised for any Haaland move to be possible.

Borussia Dortmund have set a valuation of £154m for the Norwegian striker, whose agent Mino Raiola held talks with Barcelona earlier this year.

Haaland has a £65m release clause that kicks in next summer, but Europe’s elite seem unlikely to wait and a big-money summer move seems inevitable.

The Frenchman arrived just two seasons ago in a huge £100m move from Atletico Madrid

Griezmann joined Barcelona just two seasons ago for £100m from Atletico Madrid, but has failed to reach the heights he reached under Diego Simeone.

The Frenchman has scored 19 times for his club and assisted seven goals this season and has produced improved performances over recent months.

The Copa del Rey win last month was the first trophy he has lifted as a Barcelona player.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman publicly praised Griezmann’s performances last month

Speaking in April, Ronald Koeman was full of praise for Griezmann and the impact he has had on the team.

‘Antoine is a very important player for us. During the summer we spoke with him,’ Koeman said.

‘Whenever forwards are not clinical enough they can be criticised but I really like him as a player – he works so hard for the team and he always helps us, and looks out for the group.’

However, with the club eyeing up a move for Haaland, and the future of Lionel Messi still to be officially decided, Barcelona may be forced into making a high-profile sale.
