Barcelona starlet Pedri ‘has a HUGE £361m release clause in his contract’ to ward off interest despite joining from Las Palmas for initial £4.5m… as 17-year-old hails ‘magnificent’ Lionel Messi for his on-pitch advice

- The 17-year-old has already made eight appearances for the club, scoring once
- Pedri has lavished praise on captain Lionel Messi for helping settle at Barcelona
He has only been at the club for a few months, but it is clear that Barcelona see Pedri as part of their long-term future after inserting a gigantic £361.2million release clause into his contract, according to reports.
The 17-year-old only joined the Spanish giants this summer for an initial fee of £4.5m from Las Palmas – although that could rise to £19.9m depending on variables being met, claim Goal. Barca reportedly beat Manchester City and Bayern Munich to his signature.
And the publication adds that such is Barca’s high expectation of the teenager that they chose to include this whopping buyout fee into his deal to deter rivals from trying to sign him.

High release clauses are not uncommon in Spain but it’s clear that Barcelona hope Pedri can lead them to glory once club icon Lionel Messi eventually departs.
Pedri has already forced his way into Ronald Koeman’s first-team picture and has made eight appearances so far this season in all competitions, scoring once.
The Spain Under-21 international, who can play on the wings or as an attacking midfielder, will be hoping to make that nine on Wednesday when the Nou Camp outfit entertain Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.
And ahead of that game Pedri, who turns 18 on November 25, has lavished praise on captain Messi for helping him settle into his new surroundings.
Pedri has also hailed captain Lionel Messi (right) for his on-pitch advice since joining Barca
‘He helps us in many ways on the pitch and the advice he gives you is great, now we have to enjoy him and not get involved in his future decisions and, above all, learn from him,’ he said.
‘He has helped all of us who have just arrived, from the very first day. He is a great person and he is helping us with advice on the field, a magnificent person.’
Barca currently sit top of Group G with a 100 per cent record from two matches.
