Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been tipped to "surprise a few people" this season as he looks to bounce back after a disappointing Premier League campaign last term.
The Gunners failed to qualify for Europe for the first time in 25 years after slumping to an eighth place finish in 2020/21.
But some promising signings in Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, and more on the horizon, have got the excitement for the new season brewing among the Emirates faithful.
The Gunners kick off their new season against top flight new boys Brentford on August 13.
And as the hype continues to build, former Tottenham and England ace Danny Murphy reckons all the components are there for Arsenal to be a real force this season.
Murphy thinks that without the distraction of Europe, the promising youngsters and talent of the leading players in the side should stand Arteta's side in good stead to boost themselves back to where they have been in the past.
"I’ve got a feeling [they might do well] and I don’t know where it’s come from," Murphy told talkSPORT.
"I think with no European football and it looks like they’re having a go in the market, I think Arsenal might surprise a few.
How will Arsenal get on this season in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below
"Although they’ve got a tough start, I think some of their young players – Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, for example, are tremendous
"If [Thomas] Partey stays fit, we’ve seen glimpses of his ability. It could rest on [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang], he’s only had the one bad season.
"I think Arsenal might just surprise a few people but we’ve been wrong before about them."
Meanwhile, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara has told Arsenal to get Antonio Conte in as manager to replace current boss Mikel Arteta after being left infuriated by their transfer business.
O’Hara also said on talkSPORT : “This literally sums them up, doesn’t it? It sums Arsenal up business wise. They got rid of Martinez, who’s a brilliant keeper, for what £20million or something?
“A snip, one of the best keepers last season and they’re going to sign someone from a relegated team for £30million! What are they doing?!
“Who is doing their business there? What are they doing? They are a mess.
“They’re signing a keeper that’s not as good as the keeper that they had. Aaron Ramsdale is not as good as Martinez. £30million?
“They need Antonio Conte as a manager, that’s what they need.”
