Arsenal could have a new-look starting XI next season if they complete all their intended summer transfer business. Mikel Arteta could bring in six new faces to his squad, with agreements reportedly reached with three players already in Matt Turney, Aaron Hickey and Marquinhos. Express Sport looks at how the Gunners could line up with all their new signings.

Goalkeeper – Turner

USA goalkeeper Turner has already agreed to join the club from New England Revolution in the summer. He is likely to be second choice to Aaron Ramsdale, with Bernd Leno set to leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football.

But if Ramsdale is unavailable at any point, Turner will be thrust into action. Turner only made his international debut last year but has already won 16 caps.

Defence – Molina, White, Saliba, Hickey

The second reported agreement is between Arsenal and Serie A side Bologna for the transfer of full-back Hickey. CalcioNapoli claims a fee of between £17m and £21m has been finalised between the two clubs.

Hickey would likely be understudy to Kieran Tierney but his fellow Scot’s injury record could hand him a number of starts next season. The second signing in the defence sees right-back Nahuel Molina come into the side.

Football Italia claims Arsenal are leading the way for the 24-year-old Argentina international. William Saliba is set to return from his loan at Marseille and could replace Gabriel to partner Ben White at the back.

Midfield – Partey, Odegaard, Tielemans

Youri Tielemans is one of Arsenal’s leading midfield targets this summer. The Leicester star’s contract expires in 2023 and he could be available for as little as £25m.

Tielemans’ arrival could allow Arteta to play his preferred 4-3-3 formation, with Thomas Partey the deeper of the three. Martin Odegaard would line up alongside Tielemans after a successful first full campaign at the club.

Attack – Saka, Jesus, Marquinhos

The third agreement Arsenal have struck is for Brazilian youngster Marquinhos. The Gunners are set to pay Sao Paulo around £2.5m for his signature.

Marquinhos is seen as a player for the future but if he impresses in pre-season, he could make a similar impact to that of Gabriel Martinelli. Gabriel Jesus is a top striker target for Arteta and Manchester City could be willing to let him leave, with his contract expiring in 2023.

Bukayo Saka is the first name on the team sheet for the Gunners. The England star has again been the standout player this season.
