Mesut Ozil's close friend and Turkish TV host Acun Ilicali claims that Fenerbahce are the favourites to sign the Arsenal playmaker should he leave on a free.
The German is the Gunners' highest paid player but was linked with an Emirates exit last summer.
His £350,000-a-week wages made finding a buyer difficult despite interest from Fenerbahce and some of their Super Lig rivals.
But with Ozil's contract winding down Arsenal need to make a decision on whether to extend his current deal or sell him.
And Ilicali, who himself is a Fenerbahce fan, claims that "good things will happen".
"I receive lots of questions about Mesut Ozil. I believe in the future the good things will happen," he said in a live Instagram Q&A as reported by Sport Witness
"I'm not in a position to give details but I know our president is also working hard for this.
"When his contract with Arsenal will expire, the favourites would be Fenerbahce. We are also working on that front.
"I really wanted to tell you in more detail, but I cannot. We'll talk about these things when the time comes."

Fenerbahce have previously said that "under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties" when asked about a move for the player.
Ozil had struggled for first team opportunities last term under former manager Unai Emery.
Mikel Arteta has since replaced his compatriot in the dugout and restored the 31-year-old to the starting XI.
But that has not stopped the rumour mill and Ozil's agent, Erkut Sogut, has opened the door to a move away.
