Arsenal fans think Santi Cazorla is returning after Gunners’ cryptic tweet

Arsenal fans reckon Santi Cazorla is on the verge of a sensational return to the club after the Gunners posted a cryptic message on Twitter.

Spanish playmaker Cazorla has already said he'd love to play again for the club, while has admitted he felt robbed of a Gunners goodbye when he suffered a leg injury before leaving for Villarreal two years ago.

And speculation of a dream reunion has been ramped up after Arsenal tweeted a picture of the fans' favourite in full kit at the Emirates, with a caption simply saying: "Santi. That's it. That's the tweet."

Cazorla's Villarreal contract expires this summer, and the 35-year-old last month told Spanish football expert Guillem Balague he wanted to play for two more years before becoming a coach.

So Arsenal's tweet has fuelled hopes that he could be reunited with former team-mate Mikel Arteta either as a player or a coach – or both.

One Twitter follower described the midfielder as "Best player of the Emirates Era, alongside Mesut [Ozil] and Alexis [Sanchez]".

Another cheekily replied: "Announce his return. Thats it. Thats the tweet."

Cazorla was described simply as "legend" in another reply, while one fan tweeted saying: "Bring him back for 1 more season. Still better than all of our midfielders put together!"

Another added: "This is a very Santimental tweet. Bring him home already, will you?"

Back in January, the 81-cap Spain international said he'd like to play again for Arsenal before hanging up his boots.

"I don't know if it's possible or not, but I want to play one more game for Arsenal before I retire," Cazorla told Goal.

“It was a deep regret that I could never have a proper goodbye. Arsenal was the biggest club I ever played for.
