Arsenal closing in on Dani Ceballos move after Mikel Arteta intervenes

Arsenal are close to confirming Dani Ceballos's return to the club after Mikel Arteta contacting the midfielder personally to convince him.

The Spaniard will head back to Arsenal from Real Madrid on another season-long loan after a phone call from The Gunners' boss swayed his decision.

Journalist Jose Luis Sanchez reports that Madrid want the 24-year-old to continue his development in the Premier League while Fabrizio Romano claims Ceballos turned down three other offers for Arsenal.

He was keen to ensure he would be playing first-team football in the season ahead to give him a chance of making Spain's Euro 2021 team next summer.

The deal is now waiting on Madrid to give their approval which is expected in the coming days.

The transfer will be Arteta's third of the summer following Willian's arrival and the impending completion of Gabriel Magalhaes' move from Lille.

Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also close to putting pen to paper on a new contract with an announcement expected soon.

In addition Ainsley Maitland-Niles now looks to be staying at The Emirates despite previous links with Wolves.
