Angel Di Maria has detailed the heated fight that took place between Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo during their time at Real Madrid. The winger was one of Mourinho’s first signings at Los Blancos, going on to spend four years with the La Liga giants.
Di Maria enjoyed a successful stay in the Spanish capital, scoring 36 goals and assisting 85 more at the Bernabeu.
The Argentine was a key player under Mourinho, helping Madrid to win the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey during the Portuguese’s reign.
The duo were joined at the Bernabeu by Ronaldo, with Mourinho taking over ahead of his second season with the club.
Under the management of his countryman, Ronaldo would cement his status as one of the best players in the world.
But according to Di Maria, their relationship at Madrid was not always a harmonious one, with the two clashing.

Di Maria has go into detail about one such incident, going so far as to label Mourinho “insane” for his management style.
“Mourinho is insane, with me he was always a good guy,” Di Maria, now at Paris Saint-Germain, told Libero.
“He fought with anyone though, he didn’t give a f***. One time he fought with Ronaldo telling him he didn’t run, that everyone ran for him.”
The winger enjoyed his time with Ronaldo, hailing the superstar’s attempts to keep him at the club when Manchester United made a move for him in 2014.

“I invited Cristiano to my first birthday in Madrid and thought he wouldn’t show up. He came and drank beer with my friends like it was nothing,” he said.
“Ronaldo and a few more fought for me to stay in the club but with that little guy (Fiorentino) running things there, it was a bit difficult.”
Di Maria did ultimately move to Old Trafford in a near-£60million deal, but his time in Manchester was not a happy one.
The Argentine spent just a single season in the Premier League before moving to current French giants PSG.

And he has laid the blame for his struggles in England squarely at the door of his manager at the Red Devils, Louis Van Gaal.
“I didn’t give a f*** about the Manchester United No. 7, at first they talked to me a lot about it… it was just a shirt,” Di Maria said.
“My problem at Manchester was the coach. Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes.
“He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn’t like players being more than him.”
