Gun Brisbane centre Kotoni Staggs is reportedly poised to sign a big new contract with the Broncos which will be a catalyst to push embattled playmaker Anthony Milford out of the club.
Staggs has become one of the game’s hottest free agents, and most recently he was linked to a move down the highway to Gold Coast where he could earn upwards of $750,000 a season.
But Channel 7 reports the 22-year-old is on the verge of putting pen to paper on a fresh deal that will keep him at Red Hill for a further three years.

The Broncos couldn’t match the money on offer from the Titans, but Staggs will stay loyal and commit to helping the club rise from last year’s wooden spoon horror.
It’s believed the Broncos will pay him about $700,000 a year on the new contract.
He has also been offered the No.6 jumper, a role he desires to play at NRL level.
A switch from the centres to five-eighth will push Milford out of the club.

Milford is soaking up about $1 million a year from the Broncos but he hasn’t play good consistent football in many years.
Brisbane is expected to cut ties with the embattled No.6 and groom Staggs to be the replacement playmaker.
It means by the end of this season – once Staggs returns from injury – the halves pairing could well be Staggs and Tom Dearden, two of the club’s brightest young players.
