UFCs Venezuelan Vixen doesnt have to take her clothes off to be a star

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena insists she doesn't need to take her clothes off to be a star.

The Venezuelan Vixen is set to return to action at UFC 277 on July 30 with a title rematch against MMA superstar Amanda Nunes. Pena took the belt at UFC 269 in December 2021, when she sealed the win with a rear-naked choke in the second round of the co-main event.

It is one of the most eagerly anticipated contests of the year, and Pena has discussed her approach towards promotion and her own brand. A number of female fighters have taken to subscription sites such as OnlyFans to top up their incomes amid demands for equal pay in the sport.

Jessica Andrade, Jessica Eye, and Paige VanZant are among the stars who have setup a page on the site where explicit content is sold. Pena however has described her intentions to promote her own brand in a 'classy way' without needing to take her clothes off.

She told Barstool Chicago’s RebuildEd podcast via BJ Penn: “I think that it’s (physical insecurities) helped me in a way, because it’s easy to take your clothes off and sell something on Instagram, and be this sexy model, but I’m trying to do it in the classy way, where it’s like, I don’t have to take my clothes off to get people invested in what I do.

"So, it’s almost like, a thing that’s benefited me in another way as well, because I’ve got a daughter and I want to set a great example for her. I don’t want her to, years from now, be on Instagram and see her mom being half-naked.

“I’m not trying to knock anybody for doing that, you know, get your paper boo-boo, do what you gotta do. But for me, it’s put me in a situation where I have to market myself in a different way that’s not about taking my clothes off and trying to be a ‘sex sells’ kind of person.”

Pena's rematch with Nunes will take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, and has been afforded top billing for UFC 277. Brandon Moreno will take on Kai Kara France in a flyweight interim title clash, while Derrick Lewis will square off with Sergei Pavlovich.
